This time as a nation we should support CokeStudio12’s Guts! Atif‘s track on CokeStudio12 opened the house this year and it was an absolute hit! Major throwback to ‘Wohi Khuda Hai’. Atif has sung many Spiritual numbers in the past. Including Live Qawallis, Coke Studio features and more.

This season of CokeStudio opened with a bang. And after a whole week’s delay, it has continued with a bang!

And this time, Atif Aslam is singing about his dream relating to Alcohol and no one will stop him! Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Today’s Pakistan for you!

Here is why CokeStudio12 can talk about Alcohol with Love:

The number we are talking about released today. It is revolting for many people. It brings up legal and cultural implications fo CokeStudio as well as its makers, producers, Rohail Hyatt, Coke as a company in Pakistan and more. Yet. The hot favorite artist of the decade took a chance. Along with all the CokeStudio12 house band who participated in the creation of this melodious Ghazal number.

The Birthday of a Nishaan e Imitiaz holder and his Alcohol poetry

But, the most important reason why this song is a gem and can not be forgotten is that, well, it is written by Faiz Ahmad Faiz. Not only is Faiz a memorable part of our Urdu Literature and poetic history but also the political history of Pakistan.

Faiz wrote about many things, but, more than anything else, he wrote about the love for his country and land: The Land of Pakistan. He was thinker, philosopher, and poet. How beautiful? And who is a poet when they do not indulge in the temptations of life to find out the truth about everything evil and kind.

Haters Gonna Hate Alcohol and Atif:

Faiz Ahmad wrote this Ghazal behind the jail bars, in silence, darkness and away from his beloved wife, children, and books. This song is more about solidarity than it is about alcohol or wine.

Although this is very pure Urdu and this is going to be the first time many of us find out what the words like ‘Meena’, ‘Mahtaab’, ‘Aftaab’ and ‘Abr’ actually mean.

These are the words of Solidarity, Spirituality and the Human Struggle called Life. So if you hate it, do it by all means, but do not infringe on anyone’s right to listen to it, enjoy it and relate to it in an alcoholic or nonalcoholic way. Because art is free, and sometimes there is the depth that our naive brains can not get to at first.
