Charges Filed Against Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry in Election Commission Case

In a recent development, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry are facing individual charges in the Election Commission case. The hearing took place at Adiala Jail, where Election Commission members conducted proceedings. During the session, both Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry were charged with offenses, to which they denied any wrongdoing, claiming bias on the part of Election Commission members.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Commission provided case transfer details involving former Prime Minister and Federal Minister, requesting witnesses to submit statements by January 16. Subsequently, the Election Commission case hearing was adjourned until January 16, with the Election Commission members returning from Adiala Jail.
On another front, former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry challenged the jail trial of the Election Commission case in the High Court. Through his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry, Fawad Chaudhry argued that the jail trial was a misuse of powers, impacting basic human rights.
In Fawad Chaudhry’s petition, a call was made to stop the jail trial, advocating for an open court trial against him, conducting the trial openly in the Election Commission, and instructing him to appear before the Election Commission at every hearing.
