Perhaps genius ideas come from the most intricate and well-explored minds. This one certainly is a treasure of ideological resources whether you agree with his ideas or not. He is an intelligent man that you should know of!
Pervez Hoodbhoy’s History and Story:
Professor Pervez Amirali Hoodbhoy is a Pakistani nuclear physicist. He is an activist as well. He has been a part of the Zohra and ZZ Ahmed Foundation. The man is a brilliant professor at the Forman Christian College, including LUMS and Quaid-e-Azam University.
We have very few intellectuals leaving in Pakistan. By this, we do not mean liberal or conservative people. An intellectual thinks. The ability to think, reason and be rational or neutral has been absent from our lives and culture for a long time now.
So here is an Unsung Hero of Pakistan. He is wise, yet not boring. He has good things to say. Things that make you feel hopeful. And things that improve the kind of life you want to have. Everybody likes to raise their aspirations after all.
Pervez Hoodbhoy on our lack of Reason:
We love magical solutions to our problems.
Pervez Hoodbhoy
He says that Pakistanis believe in ending corruption which is why they love a particular so much. But, he then goes on to say that the water car and the believing that corruption can end from the government, civil and judicial institutions. It is one of the times where we forget how to think and be reasonable.
Pervez Hoodbhoy on Islam and Thinking:
We have stopped asking questions. He says that unreason and reason come from Europe. But, it is also found in Islamic thinkers and historians and intellectuals. All of these ideas were potent before our time. People engaged in many more intellectual conversations that strengthened their belief systems with reason with a much more strong cement.
Pervez Hoodbhoy Vs. LUMS:
One of the controversies that he has suffered through is being terminated from LUMS for his ideological reasoning. He has also argued on ideas like the Water Car and Other Scientists. This is a man who is not scared to reason with the unreasonable and ignorant parties. Yet, the boldest and learned institutions shy away from this in today’s Pakistan.
Here is a Prof. Pervez Hoodbhoy starter kit for you. Perhaps we can start by knowing what makes a nuclear scientist so intellectual. Giving him a chance is better than not knowing a prized part of Pakistan’s sane ideological and intellectual resources.
With that, we wish you Good Luck and Good Morning Pakistan! Keep learning, keep growing, keep thinking!
