In a special TV message, the prime minister asked everyone to support the people of Gaza and keep things simple as the New Year starts. He shared deep sadness about the tragic events in Palestine, especially the loss of innocent lives, including many children, due to Israeli forces’ actions. Since October 7, 2023, more than 21,000 Palestinians, including about 9,000 children, have lost their lives.
The prime minister mentioned that Pakistan is speaking up against Israeli actions globally to stop the violence. Pakistan has sent two shipments of aid to help Palestinians, and a third one is on the way. The government is working closely with Egypt and Jordan to provide relief, evacuate the injured from Gaza, and ensure their treatment.
The prime minister prayed for a new year filled with peace and prosperity, emphasizing the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Gaza health ministry reported 21,110 killed and 55,243 wounded in Israeli attacks, causing massive displacement and severe shortages of essentials. The situation got worse after Israel’s response to Hamas‘ attack on October 7, leading to a ground invasion and prolonged suffering for Gaza’s population. About 1.9 million Gazans have been forced to leave their homes, facing critical shortages of water, food, fuel, and medicine.
