The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) terminated fast bowler Haris Rauf‘s central contract with the national team on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the National Cricket Governing Body, “Fast bowler Haris Rauf has been penalized by the Pakistan Cricket Board for his refusal to join Pakistan’s Test squad for the 2023 Australia tour after investigations.
” This decision was made by a committee appointed by the PCB after complete hearings and investigations into the matter. During this process, the views of all stakeholders involved were considered. The statement further mentioned that Haris’s central contract has been terminated from December 1, 2023, and he will not be issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in any overseas league until June 30, 2024.
It stated that the PCB administration provided Haris with a chance for a personal hearing on January 30, 2024, according to the principles of natural justice, and his response was found unsatisfactory. The PCB stated that playing for Pakistan is an honor and privilege for any player. It further stated that refusal to be part of Pakistan’s Test squad without any medical report or valid reason constitutes a violation of the central contract.
