Hina Parvez Butt, a leader from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has strongly criticized former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Using Twitter, she said it’s doubtful that Imran Khan would be forgiven even if he begged for it on his knees. Butt believes that Imran Khan’s actions against the state and his party workers make him ineligible for any kind of amnesty.
Drawing a comparison to former U.S. President Trump, Butt questioned whether the Pakistani ‘Trump’ would face disqualification or continue to receive special treatment in jail.
Mian Javed Latif added to the conversation, expressing surprise when the demand for a level playing field was brought up. He argued that this demand is usually made by political parties and should be respected. Latif questioned whether Imran Khan, despite facing corruption charges, would go through a trial without being released or whether he would be favored by the establishment. Latif emphasized that no institution or person should operate outside the bounds of the constitution. However, he found it paradoxical that even at the age of 74, some individuals were calling for intervention instead of insisting on a fair and equal playing field. In conclusion, Latif stressed the importance of institutions avoiding interference and upholding the rule of law, urging responsible behavior from all parties involved.
