The PTI Leadership Left Stunned by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Demands

After the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf‘s elections, there has been a significant development regarding alliances with various political parties. According to Public News, an alliance between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami is now at risk. Jamaat-e-Islami felt betrayed by PTI’s unconditional support. Jamaat-e-Islami conveyed to PTI’s leadership that if they want cooperation, they should also accept the demands of the Jamaat. Jamaat-e-Islami demanded key ministerial positions in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, including the finance, agriculture, and industries ministries, be given to them.

In the Senate elections, Jamaat-e-Islami candidates were also elected. Sources say that PTI leadership was surprised to hear Jamaat-e-Islami’s demands. Jamaat-e-Islami’s demands will be discussed in PTI’s committee meeting. Jamaat-e-Islami’s spokesperson also conveyed a message of not forming an alliance with PTI without accepting their demands. Jamaat-e-Islami’s Deputy Chief Liaqat Baloch stated that the final decision has been made not to cooperate with PTI.

PTI formed alliances with other parties at the federal level. There is no possibility of an alliance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa only. Discussions with PTI were about both governments. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has also reacted to this now. Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, speaking to Geo News, said that Jamaat-e-Islami is no longer represented in the provincial assembly. Now there is no justification for forming a government with Jamaat-e-Islami.

There was only talk of forming a government with Jamaat-e-Islami in KP. It should be noted that in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, independent candidates won an additional 2 seats. According to official results of PK-21, the successful Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Sardar Khan’s victory turned into a defeat. PTI-backed independent candidate Ajmal Khan secured victory with 16,712 votes.
