Desi food is comfort food. But if you have seen your mother, grandmother or uncle cook, you know that it takes time. And, yes, it does. If your mother, grandmother or uncle are to cook. But, here are quick hack foods for you to cook quickly, and painlessly. Make food, not war!
1. Chicken Tikka Masala
If you live in a hostel this is perfect for you. It can be super spicy, eaten with leftover rice, tandoor’s roti and even layered in bread for the perfect Sandwich hack.
Heat oil, fry chicken with yogurt, tikka masala powder, salt and loads of vinegar. Fry for on highest heat, for 4 minutes. Voila, perfection is served!
2. Suji Ka Halwa
Comfort food at its finest? Yes, that is true. If you want something cost, time and energy efficient go for Suji ka halwa. You will need basic ingredients, only a little bit of ghee or brown butter, a little bit of sugar, some semolina or suji and some milk. Two words: Stir-fry. And in under 5 minutes, you have your halwa your way. Top up with some almonds for some extra power and nutrition.
3. Biryani
Haters will say Biryani can not be cooked in 5 minutes. Fine, maybe 6 minutes, but it can be done. Prepare gravy with boneless chicken or beef as per the tikka masala recipe, just add biryani masala instead, plus boil water and add presoaked rice in it for about 6 minutes on full heat. Strain it, plate it, enjoy it.
4. Kebab Masala with Kachumar Salad
Fry onions with tomato paste, a little bit of yogurt, garlic paste, salt, pepper, and some chilies. Add lots of tikka masala on top. Cook on high heat with defrosted frozen kebabs. Stir every minute, serve with chopped veggies and squeezed lemon juice.
5. Red Sauce Pasta
Okay, sure. Haters will say that red sauce is not Pakistani or Desi, it is Italian. And we will straight up lol at them. Because this is a desi hack for your busy urban lives and international taste buds.
Add sausages and pasta to a pan and let it boil. Fry some chopped tomatoes, red chili flakes, chopped onion, garlic with some black pepper, herbs, and salt. Now blend it in a blend if you have one or smash it with a masher. High heat, 2 minutes, add pasta and sliced sausages.
