1.Top Tv Ads: Google India (in Collaboration with Fazal Sweets)
The ad captures the audience interest, the vibe of the region, both beyond the border in Pakistan quite, it shows an alternative narrative in a way that only Google really can because it is beyond political or social censorship and unlike history textbooks, it has more to offer than. This shines through in the plot as well as the similarity and familiarity drew among both countries through, time, space and setting. The streets are similar, the children are shown equally educated, the product is repeatedly used, its aspects of voice search, google search bar and other features are clear and well established, the product uses culture and history to evoke sentiments and that has caused immense social media appreciation and impressions to rain on it.
2. Top Tv Ads: Mcdonald’s Pakistan
This seemed like a bold advertisement back in 2014, this ad used two very prominent actors who were not yet on the apex of their careers, their faces were fresh and familiar nonetheless, the woman is lighting candles and talking with a great deal of liberty about her first love, the man is passive-aggressive but in a way that masculinity has deemed acceptable for men to be, the art direction is on point, the woman is bride but moving around freely, unlike the stereotypical and age-old depiction of a woman sitting or waiting for her husband on a bed or by a dressing table with a veil.
3. To Tv Ads: Lux
Lux ads are generally repetitive, ad nauseam replications of the same older ads, unlike this one. The ad is a very in your face, ironic juxtaposition of a highly materialistic, capitalist consumer-oriented, greedy society. It says that diamonds, clothes, and appearances can be forgotten but fragrances cannot be forgotten. Which is technically/biologically true. It is effective because it uses three familiar and popular faces, it shamelessly moves the audiences dependency from one set of items to lux, this is a step ahead from ‘Bas zara sa lux ads’ that show women in showers bathing and turning heads at weirdly uncategorical functions that are neither parties nor weddings.
Worst Tv Ads:
1.Oriflame:
The ad depicts a role reversal, the woman hangs up on her husband because she is busy. The woman has goals and is a housewife too, she is struggling for a career, helping teach a girl, the girl is wearing Indian attire, the class structures are apparent, there is hope, the ad paints a utopian image of the world. But the ad is too long and loses grip.
The ring tone and notifications are familiar with everyday sounds, the woman is dressed in a simple light pastel-colored top, the house is airy and the woman loves her plants, and the plants strive after all, all it needed was something or someone to have faith in it, and this is perhaps the brand promise.
But, It does not give information about the brand but associates the brand with a chance that one should take. It does not help with the cognitive needs of the viewer and fails to provide a need for the product.
2. Dispirin:
Although all publicity is bad publicity, this ad is a pure earworm that no viewer can take especially not men or women who have had a long day and then head to their tv sets for fun or entertainment. There is nothing persuasive about this ad, it does provide a disclaimer in the end which takes away from the message while giving too much information in a cheap stake way, mehwish Hayat has looked better than she does here, the copy is just super annoying and that does not work. There is no emotional appeal of the ad, but maybe this is the best that an over the counter aspirin could have done.
3. Nestle Fruita Vitals:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl3Ce3kZ9xM
Brands have been repeatedly criticized for taking Bollywood actresses to promote their products, this ad is one of those, the very green and natural-looking farm in the ad is clearly fake and the leafs and the background is too plasticky and Deepika’s weird accent of trying to make the brand sound seductive or fancier than it is, the ad brought mockery to the brand, the jingle was sung by Zeb Bangash and that also adds to the unreal and fake in a bad way feel of the ad, there is nothing new or special in the ad that might entertain or help the audience.
So, now you know what is good and what is bad, so when are you sharing your ad with us?
